Horace L. Smith, 91, of Boonville passed away at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Mo. on Friday, June 12, 2009.
Masonic Services for Mr. Smith will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2009. at Davis Funeral Chapel in Boonville, with visitation following until 8 p.m. The cremated remains will be buried in the Punchbowl National Cemetery in Honolulu, Hawaii at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
Horace Lehnen Smith was born in Pensacola, Florida, April 6, 1918, the son of Stephen McKimmie Smith and Jette Rosique Smith. He married Winnifred May Ebeling December 1, 1945, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Horace served his country in the U.S. Army for more than thirty years, thru two wars, WW II and the Korean War. He was transferred to Kemper Military School in 1958 as an R.O.T.C. Instructor and Assistant Commandant. Additionally he was Alumni Director for the School. Mr. Smith was a long time member of the Masons.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Winnifred, of the home, and by his children, Robert Smith of Columbia, MO, Carolyn L. (Cookie) Smith of Ka** City, Missouri, and Richard (Rick) Smith of Gilbert, Arizona. He is also survived by five grandchildren.
