Jack Phillip McKaughan, 76, of Van Buren died Tuesday, May 5, 2009, in a local hospital. He was a retired bus driver (17 years) for Van Buren High School and was the former owner of S&S News Agency. He attended Kemper Military School, graduated from American Junior College and was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Smith. He and Norma placed foreign exchange students with the E.F. Foundation as well as hosted 24 students. He was preceded in death by a son, Jackie Carl McKaughan.
Memorial service will be 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2009, at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren. He is survived by his wife, Norma McKaughan of the home; three sons, Jerry McKaughan of Pottsville and Michael Wayne McKaughan and John McKaughan, both of Van Buren; a stepdaughter, Jeannie Corley of Van Buren; four stepsons, Gary Slott of Van Buren, Randy Slott of Lakewood, Calif., Donald Slott of Van Buren and Sam Slott III of Lavaca; 11 grandchildren, Angela R. Greenfield, Michelle L. McCurrie, Amber B. Tipton, Amber Don McKaughan, Matthew Slott, Alica Slott, Derick Slott, James Phillips, Crystal Slott, Jonathon McKaughan and Londen Slott; and four great-grandchildren, Tara Fimple, Ryan Greenfield, Josh Greenfield and Laurel Mae McCurrie.
